JVHS AA Letter Head-3

Embracing Tradition.  Moving Forward.

Jordan Vocational High School has a rich tradition of excellence in the Columbus community and around the globe. The JVHS Alumni Association was reestablished in summer of 2008 to help plan and participate in the one hundredth football meeting of JVHS and Columbus High School. The Red Jacket football team rewarded our efforts that night with a 27-7 victory over our Blue Devil rivals. Jordan alumni, students and friends vastly outnumbered the Columbus High faithful on that special night. The large turnout and support of that game gave our association the inspiration to continue and help our alma mater.

The basic purpose of our organization is to support and promote Jordan’s faculty, staff, student body and history through special projects and fund raising efforts. The board of directors and members of our organization know that our old school holds a special place in the hearts of its alumni.

Even though our organization is young, we have accomplished much in our infancy. We sold one thousand football tickets and publicized the 2008 Jordan –Columbus game generating over $10,000 in revenue for our sports teams. The organization contributed over $1,500 dollars to Jordan’s choral and band programs. We rewarded our class of 2009 and 2010 graduating seniors with special alumni t-shirts. The alumni association funded the guest speaker of the 2009 Football Kick-Off banquet Jordan graduate and former Kansas City Chief Chuck Hurston. We hosted the inaugural Anthony Dimitri Memorial Golf Tournament and supporting the JVHS Athletic Hall of Fame. Due to our lobbying efforts, the deteriorating cupola on top of our school was repaired (a fifty thousand dollar capital project). To have a little fun we even hosted three Jordan Red Jacket Rumble an alumni party and dance that was enjoyed by all. This event reinforced to us just how special it is to be an alumnus of Jordan.

Jordan has always needed its communities help and she needs us now more than ever. The administration, faculty, staff and students are working hard to maintain our legacy. Let’s reward them with our support. We are asking a membership/renewal fee of only $20.00 per year. Please fill out the attached membership application and send your remittance to JVHS Alumni Association, Inc., P.O. Box 1456, Columbus, GA 31902.
